Hotel Hewitt Koshien

Positives. This Hotel is in a great location. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is great with lots of choices. Nice size room and bathroom. Fridge and kettle. Convenient coin laundry room. Stadium within 5 minutes walk. Shopping mall, super market, convenience store all within 3-4 minutes walk. Restaurants and cafes again within 3-4 minutes walk. I like that the are and the hotel was not full of international tourists (like myself). Train and bus transport links within 3-4 minutes walk. I found the location ideal. I could be in Kobe, Osaka or Kyoto in 25-35 minutes by train. Then retreat back to the hotel to be in a quieter location. Negatives. The Wifi conection wasn't great. The rooms are a little outdated and could do with some minor modernisation refurbs but are still very comfortable. Ice machine was out of order during my stay.

This is a lovely big hotel situated on the outskirts of Osaka. The hotel caters mainly business and tour companies and people that are attending baseball matches in the stadium very close by. We travelled here with AVG travels on a tour and the first room we were given was very very small. We paid extra and we upgraded into a larger room on the 15th floor overlooking Osaka. It was well worth paying the extra to be in a room with more space. The hotel has two wings a West Wing and a main building. The West Wing has very small rooms the main buildings rooms are quite substantial as far as hotels go in Japan. The room was beautiful. It was clean. It had a lovely view. It was large and had everything that you would want we were very very happy. The staff were most accommodating to our needs. there are restaurants on site and a shopping mall next door with restaurants as well as 711 close by and the railway station also close by within a five minute walk. Breakfast was very good but basic again. catering more for the Chinese and Japanese. However, I did find this restaurant to offer a lot more variety than previous restaurants and other hotels. Pillows were good beds were great bathroom was a treat. So if you’re staying here, I highly recommend that you upgrade into a bigger room in the main building to receive a little more space. It is well worth it. Now comes a big question. Would I stay here again? Although I enjoyed the visit here and don’t forget I was on tour so I could get around quite easy. No I would not stay here again as it is too far out side of Osaka and to get into Osaka I would’ve had to take three trains. But for business and a short stop over I highly recommend this hotel if you get a big enough room.

4.5 stars. Spent a few nights here, absolutely loved it. The only two complaints that I have are that it was a bit difficult to find by car (a few friends that met me at the airport drove me there) and that I was confused with how to find my room after being given a key. It ended up being that you walk down a hallway to a small ceiling-covered section outside, then going into that building next door to get to your room. Wasn't a big deal for me, just was a bit confused that first night. The room wasn't too exciting or particularly beautiful or anything, but it was clean and comfortable. I find it interesting (probably done on purpose) that the main memorable parts of the hotel are were main lobby, the smaller lobby by the elevators that led to my room, and the breakfast area. The breakfast area lets in alot of natural light. When the sun is out, the lighting of the room is comfortable and uplifting. The older gentleman that was at the register for breakfast was very kind, and immediately saw that I was reading the sign on an unoccupied table (I was trying to make sure that I was allowed to sit there), and he reassured me kindly and politely that I could. Highly recommend the miso soup. It was absolutely delicious and I had it every morning. If you need an ATM, there is a 7-11 across the street, or there is also another convenience store by the train station, which is very close by as well. Great location, great food, great service, and they were able to shorten my stay a day without issue. I contacted them by email a few days before my visit, as I had a very last-minute plan change before getting there. Other than the initial confusion, I have no complaints!
