This hotel is like a step back in time. I believe it opened in 2001 and it looks like it! It appears that the furnishing and decoration is the same as when it opened. There is nothing wrong with that of course, it just appears a little tired. The staff were nice and helpful when asked. We stayed in a Corner Deluxe room which was fairly spacious and quiet and comfortable enough and had a view over the castle ruins. It appeared to us that the majority of their business is tour groups, so breakfast was very competitive and certainly not the quiet start to the day I prefer, the food was ok but very much cafeteria style. They even issue tickets for your breakfast when you check in to be handed over each day. The location is very good, just a stroll across from the JR station and also the local train which is handy for getting around. Being close to the station there are restaurants nearby. I believe there will be a Mandarin Oriental Hotel opening in Takamatsu in the next year or so which will put pressure on this hotel.

The hotel is very grand and the location is excellent- across from both the train station and the ferry terminal. Our room was spacious and comfortable and I loved the pyjamas. I give this a four rating rather than a five because we did not get the view we paid for. Our bathroom overlooks the train station and the bedroom view had a sliver view of the port.

Perfect rooms, very well furnished, comfortable and very spacious for Japan; beautiful bathrooms, excellent supplies and lovely yukata, identical even for young guests. Fantastic location close to stations and ferries, and no disturbance in soundproofed rooms. Beautiful view of the castle and the sea. Weaknesses the breakfast: bland and boring. Very unpleasant that there are no water dispensers on all floors and you have to go looking for them: usually in Japan you get a couple of bottles of water for free while here not even for a fee.
