Hakone Yunohana Prince Hotel

Very disappointing stay – far from a relaxing hotel experience Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was a major disappointment. From the moment we arrived, we never had the feeling that this was a pleasant or relaxing place to stay. Our room had a strong, musty smell, which was also noticeable in other areas of the hotel. The room had tatami flooring, but instead of the fresh, peaceful Japanese atmosphere we were expecting, everything felt old and stuffy. There is actually nowhere in the hotel where you can properly relax. The lounge seems to be the only place intended for this, but unfortunately it had the same musty smell. The onsen experience was particularly unpleasant. During our visit, several guests completely ignored the rules. People were talking loudly, some were wearing underwear in the onsen, and one guest even had a phone with him. This created an atmosphere that was anything but peaceful and relaxing – the exact opposite of what you would expect from an onsen hotel. The drive to the hotel is also extremely winding. For us, the journey was genuinely nauseating because of all the curves. Of course, the location is partly responsible for this, but it certainly does not make for a pleasant arrival. The food was also seriously overpriced for what you get. We found the price-to-quality ratio disappointing. The staff were friendly, but their English was very limited, which sometimes made communication difficult. What disappointed us most, however, was the overall atmosphere of the hotel. Instead of the peaceful, atmospheric and welcoming Japanese ambience we expected, the hotel felt dark, cold and gloomy. To be completely honest, the overall vibe reminded us more of a crematorium than a relaxing Japanese ryokan/onsen hotel. For the price, we expected a lot more. The combination of the musty smell, lack of pleasant places to relax, disappointing onsen experience, overpriced food and gloomy atmosphere means that we would definitely not recommend this hotel.

Lovely place surrounded by nature, traditional rooms with tatami floor, the bed is prepared during dinner, during the day the mattresses are stored in special closets You completely immerse yourself in the local atmosphere, you immediately wear the Yukata (cotton kimono) that is used on all occasions Beautiful experience of Onsen and all the traditional preparation Very courteous staff

Open-air bath, white cloudy hot water best Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. It was just a bad leg, so the maze of long corridors was painful. The refrigerator doesn't cool down in the room, the staff will take beer from home and They exchanged it for cold beer. I came here 20 years ago, and I wanted to come back because the open-air bath was good. I was hesitant to come, just because the stairs in the bathroom were suddenly missing a railing. It was renewed, there were handrails, flowers in the bath water, it was great. It's too high a bed in my room.
