Interesting to read all the reviews and what you realize is a lot comes down to expectations. This is a traditional Japanese hotel which means sleeping on futons on the floor and eating Japanese food. If you came for that then the rooms are large and very nice. The views have a lot of potential (unfortunately for us the clouds and rain limited this aspect). The onsen is very nice and there’s both indoor and outdoor options. It’s a bit remote but they have a few shuttles a day and it’s also accessible via bus or taxi so not impossible to solve and worth it for the serene location. That’s all the positive stuff. What didn’t I like? They charge for every little thing - even coffee at breakfast. For the hefty cost of a night here surely they can give you a free cup of coffee? They also have a fairly early and strict checkout at 10 am (there’s a late charge if you do t leave on time). So overall me enjoyed the experience but I wish they offered a bit more of a hospitable approach and not view guests solely as a source of income.

We stayed in several Ryokans while visiting Japan in October 2024. This one is by far our favorite. We stayed in room 301 (Shirakaga). It’s a traditional Japanese-style Superior room with a private natural hot-spring onsen. From the living room, you can see a beautiful view of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji. Very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere! The Kaiseki traditional multi-course meal is exceptional. The location is also excellent. Walking distance to Hakone Shrine. We went early morning, so beat all the crowds. The hotel is also close to Hakone Mountain Cable station which takes you to Mototsumiya Shrine. Other than experiencing the cultural Ryokans, we got to enjoy sightseeing and engage in other activities near the areas. Great value! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed 1 night in this charming Pension, we chose a large two-room room with incredible views of Mount Fuji. The place and relaxing but be careful away from everything , a free shuttle is offered to and from , but inquire about the schedules , the bus is very comfortable and clean . The traditional meal and breakfast is worth a visit , you can eat in kimono provided in the room. The rooms are a bit aging but the bone in the room and very nice. Special thanks to the young man at the reception who speaks perfect English and a little French , he is very kind and efficient , thank you.
