Hotel Blanca

My wife and our two friends booked Hotel Blanca for one night during Golden week. Finding English language support was difficult, but we booked online in Japanese. When we arrived, it was well before check in time, as we were spending the day in Greenland. My wife and I know some Japanese, so we could communicate with the staff with no problems. They were very polite and friendly. They sold us are park pass (at a discounted price), and informed us we were receiving a complementary room upgrade. We spent the day in the park, then walked back to the hotel at park close time. The rooms we were upgraded to were very spacious. We originally booked 2 rooms with 2 beds each, but we were given 2 rooms with 4 beds each. The hotel clearly shows some age in the wear on the walls and carpet of the lobby and hallways, but everything is very clean. The rooms were clean, the linens new, and yukata were provided for relaxing and using the public bath. The public bath was nice, and well stocked with towels, soap, shampoo, hair product, and disposable toiletries. The hotel lobby has 2 softdrink vending machines, and an alcohol vending machine. The hotel also sells snacks and bottles of sake/shochu at supermarket prices. The complimentary dinner was a very nice kaiseki meal. There is a small alcohol selection that costs extra, but the prices are standard restaurant drink prices. Complimentary breakfast was a buffet with both Japanese and Western items to select from. All in all, we were very satisfied at the value of this hotel. While inexpensive and a bit old, the staff never made me feel like I was staying in a value hotel. Next time I go on an overnight trip to Greenland, I will stay at Hotel Blanca for sure.
