Nishikiro Ryokan

+ It was a mix of Hostel and Ryonkan. The flair of a Ryonkan with bath and stuff like in a Hostel. Fair price. Everything was tidy and clean. The Koi sea in the middle was a nice eye-cathcer. - No meals included or offered.

The ryokan is located in in ideal location just steps away from Nishiki market and a 5-10min walk from Kawarachi train station shopping district. When we first reached, the owners immediately came by to take our luggages up to the room while we enjoyed our green tea welcome drink. After we were brought up to our room, the hostess explained the facilities, and took the trouble to exchange our gown for the correct sizing so that we would be comfortable. We had our breakfast at the ryokan the next morning and it was a nice Jap style meal. The hostess was also nice to keep our bags with them after we checked out, and even filled up our water bottles before we left.

I wanted to be near Kyoto Station, and this place was perfect for that. It's right across the street (less than 10 min walk), on a quieter road with some nice restaurants nearby. The ryokan itself is older and dated, and rooms small, but but clean and comfortable. The separate bathrooms were also very clean. A good price for the location.
