Our family had a sublime experience at this awesome Ryokan. We stayed in the Sen suite which was beautifully appointed and spacious for our family of three. Having the gorgeous onsen in our room was such a treat. What really made this stay outstanding was the owner. He went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. At one point, we were having trouble buying Shinkansen tickets. The owner actually drove down to the train station and bought the tickets himself and brought them back to us!!! It is rare to experience that level of hospitality. ARIGATO GOZAIMASU Tomo-San!!

I stayed in a guest room with an open-air bath, but the open-air bath was neither fresh nor heated, so I had to change the water every time I tried to take a bath, which was very annoying. I think people who rent such a room will always stay overnight looking for a quick bath, so I want to ask for improvements. I have no other complaints, the food was not surprising but it was delicious.

My wife and I visited as part of a ski trip. Hifumi is a bit of a walk to the nearest ski lift but the ski bus if very close and runs more often than the timetable suggests. Our room (Sen) was huge and lovely. The en-suite onsen was a real luxury. Breakfast is excellent (both Japanese and European options). The real highlight was the service. The 2 young ladies who front a lot of the service are possibly the most helpful people I have ever met. They are superb, nothing is too much trouble.
