Yutoriro Karuizawa Hotel

I decided to stay here after reading reviews. A shuttle bus came to pick me up at Nakakaruizawa before the scheduled time. The hotel was... shabby considering the space, and the lighting was uneven. The front desk was polite. Drinks and snacks in the lounge are self-service. White and red wine were chilled in a carafe, but they were tasteless. Snacks were not replenished. The rooms are well-cleaned. They make good use of the old building. The slippers in the bathroom are worn out, but they could be replaced. If you have only one blanket and the room is not heated, you may catch a cold in the middle of winter. The bath water temperature was good. I expected too much from the amenities. Toothbrushes, razors, etc. are available next to the front desk. Hair caps are available in the bathroom dressing room. Cleansing, lotion, etc. are also available in the dressing room. Another guest accidentally took my bath towel, so when I got out of the bath, my bath towel was a little wet. There were only enough towels for everyone, so I thought it would be nice if they had a spare one. The breakfast was very simple. Salad, yogurt, poached eggs, and two pieces of bread are set on the table, and soup, ham, juice, coffee, etc. are self-service. Since I came all the way to Karuizawa, I wanted to try some local ingredients. Each staff member is dedicated, but the hotel's infrastructure does not match their dedication.

Was disappointed from the point of reservation, canceled my stay. Rude reservation staff on the phone, when I asked to clarify a reservation made on Booking.com (the offer in English was misleading to begin with and they told me they don’t know and can’t refer to the English site therefore I had to deal with it myself). They finally offered to call me back to clarify, but they never did. What more was the tone and attitude of the reservation agent was rude, and I was speaking in Japanese too. Canceled and booked a different accommodation who catered much better.

Staying a night before my relative’s wedding. There is a lovely lounge and bar with a biliardo table, a stove and a smoking room closed to the reception. They have public bath for men and women, you can book Ganbanyoku for 40-50 minutes(you pay extra), the room is pretty big and clean. Breakfast is very good!!
