We were going back and forth between a 4 or 5 star. We had a tatami room which was clean and spacious but was quite dated and well worn (scuffs on the walls, 90s decor etc). The breakfast was amazing though - lots of choices and high quality ingredients. The service at the hotel was good- walking into the lobby you feel like you're at a 5 star hotel. The public baths were also nice. We also appreciated the in-house laundry mat.

On a business trip, I stayed in a single room in the old building. Corner room on the fourth floor. The windows were bright in two directions, and the sound did not bother me, as there was no next room. The water area was very beautiful as if it had just been renovated. Amenities and linens were also of good quality. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety, but the only regret was that the coffee was thin and not delicious. I was expecting a coffee for breakfast because the coffee I got in the coffee room the day before was so good, but it was a bit disappointing. I didn't have time for sightseeing as it was for business use, but the hotel is only a three-minute walk to Matsumoto Castle, so it was nice to take a walk around the castle before breakfast. The quality of both the software and hardware makes it look like a long-established hotel, and the fact that it costs just over 12,000 yen with breakfast is very nice for business travelers. I will try to use it again next time.
