Gave it 2 stars Because the staff were very polite and the rooms were reasonably clean, but for the price I paid.. It was by far the WORST place we’ve stayed in Japan. So noisy… Escalator was broken and room could only be locked via deadlock using a key. Walls were so thin, you could clearly hear the crosswalk “song” being played every 3 minutes or so Out the front of Nagano Station. We also had to “roll dice” to earn a bottle of water for our room. (We rolled under a 7 so had to settle for a rice crispy treat instead 😂😂) Also, it’s a tense “fight” for the massage chairs on Level 10. A lot of the tourists feel that it’s acceptable to rest/ fall asleep in them while waiting for the ONE washing machine available. 😅 Certainly not one of the best “Hotel Abest” locations available! Needs upgrading ASAP!

Hotel Abest is located right by the train station. I picked this hotel because of the location and price, it was on the cheaper side. The staff at the front desk were helpful and check in/out was a breeze. The rooms were on the smaller side, the bathroom was tiny, but the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. They have breakfast served on the 10th floor, great views with a decent variety of food, I really enjoyed the breakfast. Not their fault, but was noisy at night, a shop nearby played a tune on repeat which was annoying. Other then that, no issues and perfect for a one night stay.

I was already expecting a small room, the point of choice was mainly location and price, but boy oh boy, I sure was disappointed. My worst experience ever, the bathroom looks like it's falling apart, but maybe just because most of the touched up paint is peeling off. The ventilation system doesn't seem to be cleaned in ages but the worst part was the constant noise. I had 2 nights booked and ad to leave after the first night, forget about the money and just booked another hotel. I don't need much, but my sleep is a must.
