Hotel Keisui

When I arrived at the inn to check in at 3pm to complete the process, I was told to wait a little while to finalise my room. Only after 15 minutes in the lobby did the landlady with the key? led me to the front of the elevator that went up to my room. It was already 15:20. When I finally got to the front of the room thinking I could get into it, the door was fully open and the cleaning tools were scattered in the hallway, and lo and behold, it was still being cleaned. I was sighing at the cleaners, thrashing down the halls and complaining through the staff in the room. Naturally we couldn't get into the room during that time, so we had to stand in front of the room for about 10 minutes and wait. After all, it was long past 15:30 when I let him in. The male staff at the front desk was so nice that I could wait in the lobby without worrying at first, It was the first time in my life that I had stayed at an inn that had not been cleaned in time for our guests to arrive. This is even if you book a room on the top floor with an open-air bath. I thought the room was beautiful because I had waited 30 minutes, but there were hairs in the washroom and water droplets on the toilet seat. This is not the place to stay if you are hygienic or want to receive honest and decent service. The amount of food was reasonable, but I didn't feel particularly particular about it. However, the reception of the staff in the banquet hall was very good. The outdoor bath in the room was just right, not too hot or warm, and it was very convenient with a system that automatically added hot water via sensors. I thought it would be a great deal for this price if there was no immediate mess about the inn. That's a waste.

Hotel was nice. A good stop if you want to relax after the Kurobe Alpine trip. We visited towards end May and we got the impression that this was a low season for the area since some of the hotels and shops are closed. Quite secluded town. Since nothing much to do in the area, most of the guests will use the public bath / spa. It is uncommon for us to use a Japanese public bath, so it was a good choice for us to have booked a Japanese room with own outdoor bath. It was really a good experience to take a bath with nature. Please also note hotel did not operate their air conditioners during this season. It was a little uncomfortable to stay in the room during the afternoon but temp went down and was good after sundown.

I made an account just to rate Hotel Keisui. I went with my family of 7. We booked the tatami room and it fit all of us perfectly. The hotel experience, all in all, was wonderful. From around 8 AM to 5 PM, there's always an employee that could speak good English; Which made our stay even better and smoother. The onsen was spacious, with a lot of variey of soap and shampoos. They had an outdoor one as well, which when coupled with the outdoor cold of the winter, it was an experience to remember. Everything in the hotel brings the family together. The breakfast, the tatami room and especially the onsen. Who doesn't like to kickback and relax with your family. Although the hotel was spectacular... There was one con, nothing to do with the hotel, but there weren't much restaurant choice to choose form. We eneded going to the same restaurant for dinner for three days. Not that the restaurant was bad, but a little variey would had been nice. The restaurant with soba (I would totally recommend their BBQ eel rice!) We booked Hotek Keisui to snowboard at Hakuba. In the beginning, it seemed like a mistake, because we found out it actually took 30 minutes car ride. However, there's a local bus that brings you to Hakuba Gyoru and back to the hotel every day (8:20AM and 16:15 PM). It was very convenient and free! All in all, I would really recommend Hotel Keisui.
