Hotel Okura JR Huis Ten Bosch

We took the 12:01 Yufuin No Mori train from Yufuin to Huis Ten Bosch changing to Huis Ten Bosch train at Tosu. As we were sitting in carriage 1, it was very convenient to alight on the right hand side and straight to the elevator to change from platform 1 to platform 5. We had 5 minutes to make the transfer and it was sufficient. On arrival at Huis Ten Bosch station at 15:24, we just needed to cross the bridge and Hotel Okura is majestically right in front of us. Check-in lobby in on second floor and our room 538 overlooks the Dutch houses private residential area. It was so worthwhile to pay more for the park view room as the view of Dutch houses and islands in the Omura Bay was gorgeous. We bought the "after 3 pm" entry tickets. Location It has the best location for train travellers being a 5 mins walk from train station and 4 mins walk to the entrance of Huis Ten Bosch through the Family Mart in the hotel. There is also a Canal Cruiser to the park at fixed time at the back of hotel facing the Dutch village. Rooms The twin bed room has a balcony and it was clean and well-maintained considering that it was celebrating its 30th anniversary. Drip coffee are provided. Facilities There is a bakery and Family Mart. Both open at 8:30 am and the bakery closes at 7pm while the Family Mart closes later. We were given 2 coupons for the hot spring in level 1. Large and small towels were provided when we showed our coupons. There are an indoor and outdoor pool and both are not very big. Knowing that it will be crowded at 9pm, we chose to use the hot spring at 6 am the next morning. The water temperature is comfortable and toner and moisturiser are provided. Service The staff are generally very friendly and helpful even lending us a charger for our phone. However a lady staff showed an indifferent attitude when checking us in and it was regrettable that she did not even smile. As our train to Nagasaki is at 8:26 am, we took a walk along the jogging path along the Haikiseto Strait to the Panaroma View platform and explore the back garden of Hotel Okura. We had a lovely view of the Dutch houses beside the canals. The facade of each house is unique with different windows and doors combination. There is also a lovely Church in the garden too quite near to the Family Mart entrance. I would highly recommend a stay at his hotel as its location is very good. After viewing the musical fountain at 9 pm, it was an easy walk back to the hotel.

First use in 3 days and 2 nights from December 25. Park 1.5-day passes can also be purchased at the front desk, making it easy to get around the park from check-in. We used Kamelia on the 1st floor and Sakura Japanese food on the 3rd floor for breakfast, both of which were early morning use and were not crowded and did not feel inconvenient. The hot spring on the first floor healed my frozen body in the winter cold wind, which helped me. The transportation was JR, so it helped that it was often near the station.
