Setre Glovers House Nagasaki

I planned a trip to Nagasaki for my daughter's birthday and stayed here. It is a pretty hotel close to Oura Cathedral station on the tram. I didn't know it on the map, but the slope to the hotel was so steep, I was surprised, but it was a good exercise! It's just that you can't take a taxi when you're taking your old mother. All-inclusive, you can also drink a wide variety of alcohol such as beer, highball, red wine white wine, sake, shochu, strawberry liquor, and Biwa sake. Coffee can also be ground with Nespresso or a manual mill. Unfortunately, however, we only received coffee, castella and a sweet called otakusaku. Nagasaki has a lot of good food and a pummeled stomach lol We also had healthy breakfast at the seiro! Please be aware that you are environmentally conscious and need to bring your own amenities. It was a wonderful trip with a nice view because it was on a high ground.

We were greeted by very nice staff, check-in was nice. Serve tea and cake. We got room on 4th floor, nice view. The breakfast was fantastic. This is the first time I've seen them spend a glass of wine or beer in the lobby. It was fun after a long day out in Nagasaki. The hotel is very central.

私たち夫婦は年に数回旅行に行きます。その際の宿泊施設の使い方は大きく2つのパターンに分かれます。1つは夜遅くまで観光や食事をして宿には寝にだけ帰る、というパターン。2つ目は外出はほどほどにして、部屋でゆったりと過ごすパターン。その場合は読書をしたりお酒を飲んだりしています。同じ宿に連泊するときはこのように過ごすことが多いです。 今回の滞在は後者に近いのですが、その体験は少し違っています。それは宿に戻っても「長崎」を感じ続けられるという点です。 よくある旅行では、観光を済ませて宿に戻ったらそこはもう汎用的な建物、汎用的な設備、汎用的な部屋で、観光地の中のただの宿泊空間であることが多いのではないでしょうか。もちろん宿泊施設内の滞在を重視し、洗練されたデザインや様々な設備が整っているホテルはありますが、あくまでホテル内は別空間であり外、今回の場合は「長崎」とは切り離されています（住所としての『長崎』ではなく、旅行体験の場としての『長崎』）。 セトレグラバーズハウスはホテル内にも長崎を感じさせるものを自然に配置し、aeru roomではさらに部屋の中まで演出されています。「ホテルの中もちゃんと長崎」なのです。 今回の長崎滞在では、ほかのホテルにも宿泊しました。そこにも長崎の書籍があったり、長崎くんちの張り子人形が置いてあったりと、長崎らしさの演出はありました。しかしaeru roomと比較するとその演出はどこか中途半端で、どこか稚拙な印象すら受けてしまいました。 その違いは「和える」が土地の歴史と文化を深くリスペクトし、aeru roomでの滞在を通じて「長崎の本物に触れ感じる体験」を重視しているからではないでしょうか。 My wife and I travel several times a year. We use our accommodations in two main ways: first, we sightsee and eat until late at night and return to the inn only to sleep, and second, we spend time relaxing in the room, not going out as much as we would like to. In this case, I read or have a drink. When I stay at the same inn for consecutive nights, I often spend my time in this way. This stay was similar to the latter, but the experience was a little different. That is, I could continue to feel “Nagasaki” even after returning to the inn. On a typical trip, once you have finished sightseeing and return to the inn, it is already a generic building, generic facilities, and generic rooms, and is often just an accommodation space in a tourist area. Of course, there are hotels that emphasize the stay inside the accommodation and have sophisticated designs and various facilities, but the inside of the hotel is just another space and outside, in this case, separated from “Nagasaki” (not “Nagasaki” as an address, but “Nagasaki” as a place for travel experience). The Settre Glover's House naturally places things that remind you of Nagasaki inside the hotel, and in the aeru room, even the inside of the room is decorated. The hotel is “Nagasaki” inside as well. During my stay in Nagasaki, I also stayed at other hotels. There were books on Nagasaki and papier-mache dolls from the Nagasaki Kunchi festival. However, compared to the aeru room, the presentation was somewhat half-baked and even looked somewhat poor. The difference may be due to the fact that “Waeru” deeply respects the history and culture of the area and emphasizes the “experience of touching and feeling the real Nagasaki” through the stay at the aeru room.
