My GF and I had a great stay at Akakura Central. Kitamura and staff made sure we were taken care of and even shuttled is to and from the resort each day. When I had an issue with my ears they made a special trip to find ear drops, going above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. The staff was warm and friendly and the Onsens were a great way to unwind after a fun day on the slopes. The rooms are simple, clean and the hotel is centrally located- just enough removed from the main street to be quiet. I recommend staying here!

Stayed for 6 nights at this unusual hotel. This hotel is 3 stars and is in need of a makeover and some TLC. Having said that, the place is clean and the staff friendly, with English speakers on the front counter. We had a Western/Japanese mixture room which was plenty big enough for two. The beds where fairly comfortable. Our room had a toilet but no shower, so down to one of two onsens for a bath. The onsens are small and a little rustic, and could also do with a makeover , but where functional. Breakfast is fine but basic with eggs and bacon cooked for you if you wish. The hotel will pick you up from the bus station or railway station if requested. The hotel also does shuttle runs between the ski hills for a fee. This hotel is well located with a 50 metre walk to put your skis on in the morning on the ski hill, and depending on snow conditions , you can ski to front door of hotel. There is a bar in the hotel which is good fun, with beer and some spirits available. It is a great gathering spot at the end of the ski day for the guests. There are a couple of parking spots out front where you could put a car. There are numerous vending machines in the hotel, as well as a coin operated washing machine and dryer. Overall this is a good 3 star hotel. The main criticism is that it is very tired and they really need to smarten it up to more modern standards.

The Akakura Central is a ski in/out facility- well almost 50 m away from the ‘main street’ of town. Myoko Kogen is described as a Japanese town with a ski run attached rather than a large scale ski resort. Fabulous value and the included meal was the best we had during our stay.
