Hinanoyado Chitose

From Echigo Yuzawa, take the Hokuhoku Line to Matsudai Station. Pick-up and drop-off with reservation required. The inn is comfortable with tatami mats. Enjoy rice terraces and local sake, healed by the three major medicinal baths and the open-air snow bath! Great.

I stayed at Hinanoyado Chitose during my motorcycle trip from Spain to Japan to visit The Black Symbol. After so many kilometers, this place was exactly what I needed. The onsen helped me recover from the road—its mineral-rich waters soothed my muscles and even improved my skin. The kaiseki meals were delicious and beautifully prepared with local ingredients. Special thanks to Ms. Akemi and Mr. Kanzunari for their warmth and for teaching me a bit about Japanese culture before my return journey. An unforgettable stay, full of peace, kindness, and tradition. Highly recommended!

I stayed there on a trip with a friend. I have visited Matsunoyama Onsen in the past, but this was my first time staying at this inn. It is probably Matsunoyama Onsen, and I think it is the most expensive inn in terms of price. It is a four-story building with a public bath and an open-air bath on the first floor and a gender-swapped open-air bath on the upper floor. There was also a private bath. Only the inner bath in the public bath had circulation filtration, and the others had pour-in water. I knew that the hot water of Matsunoyama Onsen is of characteristic quality because I had visited it before and was in a communal bath. The water in this inn was a little less unique than the communal baths, and it felt like a spring for everyone. Personally, I would have been happier if the water had a stronger personality. The meal was served in the restaurant both morning and evening. I think it's the most basic plan, but it's a pretty elaborate dish and I felt like that was enough. I think the ingredients will probably change as you upgrade. The rooms have a high-grade finish worth the price. Because we are poor, I thought it would be better if we were a little older and calmer so we could feel the taste of the Japanese-style room. Matsunoyama Onsen is not very popular with freshly baked meals, so I chose this one. However, I felt that it was more like an inn for people who enjoy the atmosphere of a luxury inn than an inn where you can enjoy the hot water purely.
