Kaizan

I stayed here during the Rugby World Cup so the rooms where very over priced. However I was excited to have the food. Unfortunately I was only provided cold Western Food and not what was expected. I understand this was partially due to a miscommunication as someone in our group asked for Western food. When I said that I wanted the Japanese food, I was told it was not possible. It is very unfortunate that I was not able to experience Beppu YuYa the way i should have.

The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable starting when we pulled into the driveway--they were waiting with smiles and parked our car as we got checked in. The rooms are spacious and quiet. The food was magnificent - they knew we were vegetarian and prepared 9 course vegan meals for dinner and breakfast. The private onsen is exactly what we needed to relax - we could get in any time and did not have to think about driving to an onsen, paying extra, packing a bag, etc. It was great. The hotel is very private but only three minutes off the expressway. Five minutes farther down the road is the ropeway going up Mt. Tsurumi and it only takes about 15 min to get into downtown Beppu. All in all a fantastic visit and we are already planning our next trip back.

Spent two nights at Beppu Yuya. The location is a short distance from town. Our room, with a private steam pool (indoor and sliding door to outside) was excellent; spotlessly clean as you'd expect in Japan and excellent service from the delightful staff. The food was outstanding! A number of the staff spoke good English, which is helpful as my Japanese is weak. I'll use this place again.
