Seoto Yuoto no yado Ukiha

When I stayed with my husband last year, the food and hot springs were so good that I was indebted to him this time to commemorate my sister and nephew's visit to Japan from Los Angeles. The staff member at the dinner, Mr. Capita, was in charge again last time, so we had a pleasant time while having fun conversations. The hot springs were changed between men and women in the evening and morning, and my sisters were happy with the different atmosphere.

It looks like an ordinary concrete block on the outside but inside -wow. We had a western bedroom (with beds) in one room, a western bathroom and then a traditional Japanese room next to that. It was very spacious and I think it was an executive room that our guide organised because of my reduced mobility. Dinner and breakfast were included and both were fabulous. We went to a separate traditional Japanese dining area in the same small building complex and were served the most amazing foods including fish caught out of the river flowing through the town (we saw the fishermen fishing the next day!) There was also a wonderful outdoor hot spring spa pool set in a garden. Altogether it was a wonderful experience and a great start to ryokan staying.
