OYADO　URAKU

I made Reservations for rooms with open-air baths, but as soon as I arrived at the room, I discovered that the air conditioning in the room was broken. They asked if I could stay here as I had provided a fan, but I definitely couldn't. When I turned down the offer from the capital, he took a room at the next inn. I feel like I got a good deal because I had a meal here, slept at the next inn, enjoyed the bath at both inns, and also had a low accommodation cost.

Stayed for two nights and it was really relaxing. We booked a room with the outdoor bath attached to it. It was a huge unit with a bedroom and a separate dining area. A room like this would have cost more than 25,000 yen per person per night in onsen towns like Hakone for example but it was reasonably priced in this ryokan. Meals are served in the room so it was convenient. All the meals were delicious and wonderful and the chef did a very excellent job in presenting each course aesthetically. We enjoyed all the meals. Though none of the staff could speak English, it wasn’t a problem for us as we could use Google Translate whenever we needed to communicate with them. The ryokan is less than ten minutes’ walk from the Yufuin train station so it is very convenient. There was a supermarket (by Aeon) very close by and we bought very sweet strawberries and reasonably priced snacks there. Dinner has to served at 6 pm so be sure to let the staff know if you are arriving late. We booked our train seats well in advance on JR Kyushu’s website and it was worthwhile paying for them as the trains to Yufuin from Hakata were always very full especially those scenic trains with four train cars only. We also took a day trip to Beppu since it was only one hour by train from Yufuin. Overall a very relaxing stay. Kudos to the wonderful staff at Uraku~

Had an excellent 2 nights here in Urak. Room is Japanese style, quite big and comfortable. There is in room private onsen in the small backyard. What's impressive is a very nice lady was assigned to serve us for 2 days - serving meals, preparing bedding and even helping us putting on yukatas - It's totally different after her help. Breakfast and dinner were served in room. Excellent food ! There is fresh flower arrangement each day by the lady too.
