We arrived from Beppu at about 5pm via bus and walked for about 10min from the bus station (which is close to the train station.) It is located next to a stream by a narrow road, and we were greeted by the senior proprietress. She spoke to us in Japanese which we understood a few words and wiped our luggage before bringing it in, then showed us the onsen and our room. Room was a decent size w 3 futons for our family of 2 adults, a 5yo and 8 yo. The room is dated but clean, we walked out to the main road with umbrellas loaned from the ryokan, and found a ramen store next to the supermarket, had our dinner and picked up a few items before heading back to the ryokan. Onsen was pleasant with an outdoor and indoor section. 2 small towels were provided in the room, some yuzu biscuits, a big flask of hot water and green tea. We enjoyed simple breakfast items bought from a convenience store nearby. Check out is 10am and payment in cash (credit cards not accepted). Wifi is provided and was somehow not working for us but not an issue as we had our own connection. We stored our luggages with them after check out and explored the town before catching our scenic train ride to Fukuoka at 3pm.

A very nice ryokan within walking distance to the main shopping district of Yufuin. We arrived on a quiet Sunday and there were no other guest in the Ryokan. Owner is an old Japanese couple who speak little English. If you could converse in simple Japanese, that would be very helpful. We have the whole onsen bath to ourselves (very nice experience).

Clean Roykan located in a quite and scenic location near the start of the main shopping street of Yufu . Attentive service staff to make you feel at home. Good breakfast and dinner . Reasonable both indoor and outdoor onsen facilities.
