Yufuin Yamaboushi

The property is very easy to locate and has ample free parking. The owners were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding. Very nicely prepared, arranged and delicious. The rooms were pretty good. Comfortable but not overly spacious. The onsen was pretty good as well. Personally did not enjoy the type of water that was in the bath as it was very different feeling to other baths but it was nice to have a rotemburo outside. Owners were very understanding when we had to spend the day in the hotel rearranging our itinerary and flights to head back to Canada due to Covid-19. The town itself, we were not super big fans of. We could see how many would like it but it really didn't hold much interest to us. And sorry but Kinrin Lake is a pond, not a lake. Liked the hotel but don't think we will return to Yufuin in the future. Thanks for all your kindness during our stay with you.

We stayed ay Yufuin Yamaboushi for 1 night in the regular Japanese style room. It is about a 10 min walk from the station to the hotel. One thing to note is that some rooms are on the second floor and there is no lift but only stairs up the rooms. Hence, some elderly may have difficulties with this hotel as the steps in the hotel are pretty high. The room was regular but slightly smaller than other hotels I have been to. But to be fair, the other hotels I stayed were in other onsen towns. Since we did not opt for dinner, the futons were already on the room folded and we just have to lay them out ourselves. The onsen (both indoor and outdoor) were regular and are outside the main hotel building. So if it is raining, you may need an umbrella as there is a small unsheltered walk to the onsen from the main hotel building. There is an interesting thing called the family onsen where we can reserve in advance for 45 mins. It is a smaller onsen but private onsen where families and couples can have their own privacy. Overall, the stay at Yufuin Yamaboushi was great.

The small hotel was clean and quiet. The location is very convenient. It is like 7 min to the terminal. The owners who operate the hotel are very friendly. Their English is very good. Breakfast was nice too. Two thumbs up.
