Comfort Hotel Hikone

The hotel is three minutes walk from the train station. Also not too far to walk to shopping areas and restaurant street. They have self service lockers to store your belongings and racks for large luggages before you can check in or upon check out. Room size is adequate. Free breakfast no complaint. Definitely a hotel to consider when visiting Hikone .

To be honest, I booked this as an alternative because the Toyoko Inn next door, which I had stayed at before, was fully booked. Compared to the price at the Toyoko Inn on the same day, this one was more expensive than the Toyoko Inn member discount twin room even after using the coupon, so I had high expectations. I think the room size is slightly larger than the Toyoko Inn in Hikone. There was a closet-like space, although it wasn't wall-mounted and didn't have a tiny door. The hallway was also wide and seemed to have better sound insulation than the Toyoko Inn. On the other hand, the layout and size of the bathroom and toilet were so similar that I thought I was staying at a Toyoko Inn, and I didn't notice any difference. Even the shampoos on the wall were very similar. I also didn't notice any difference between the two beds. Although it is on the same side as Hikone Station, it is closer to the station than Toyoko Inn, and it was close enough that you could leave your luggage after checking out and go sightseeing (if you were driving, it would be a close call, but if you were walking, considering the infrequent trains, it would be better to use the station lockers rather than leaving your luggage at Toyoko Inn). The breakfast area is spacious and has a wide variety of food. There were a lot of Western-style dishes, such as two types of smoothies, soup, waffles, and yogurt, and it was nice to be able to eat alone without sharing a table. It's good for people who value breakfast. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was that when I returned to get my luggage before noon after sightseeing (luggage can be left unattended by putting it in a locker or through a wire with a combination lock), there was no one at the front desk, and I could hear a lot of busy activity from the dining area. I ended up finding it myself, but I couldn't ask anyone if I wanted to use the restroom. The front desk is on the second floor, but the elevator on the first floor was blocked by what appeared to be a cart carrying linen (I used the stairs because I don't have bad legs), which was a bit odd. It may be that they were short-staffed and couldn't keep up, but it was a bit disappointing to see the behind-the-scenes feel.

It is located right next to the east exit of Hikone Station. Hikone Castle and restaurants are on the opposite side of the station, at the west exit, so you will have to go past the station if you are sightseeing. You can leave your luggage yourself before check-in, and there is also a free cafe available, so it is very convenient. The 23m² room is very convenient, with a round table and two armchairs for relaxation. You can see Hikone Castle from the room, and at night you can see it lit up. Unfortunately, the breakfast was a bit disappointing. It's free, so it can't be helped, but it's a shame.
