En Hotel Hamamatsu

The entrance has a Western atmosphere, and the front desk staff are casually dressed, and are awkwardly friendly. We would prefer normal Japanese service. Even if you extend your stay, the amenities are not delivered to your room, but you have to go to the front desk to get them. Above all, the Shinkansen passes right in front of you. There is no hotel closer to a major road than this, which is more uncomfortable. The noise is bothersome, and every time you take the Nozomi or Hikari, the Shinkansen, which does not stop at Hamamatsu, runs at high speed, so just thinking about the high voltage passing right in front of you makes you feel uncomfortable. The room has been renovated, and the paint has peeled off in places, allowing you to see the original appearance. The plumbing for the water is made of metal and full of rust. The plumbing beyond that and the back are probably still the same as they were back then. The ventilation fan is covered in dust. Only the visible parts have been renovated, and this stay made me realize that you should not be fooled by appearances when it comes to discomfort. The breakfast venue was Royal Host. The staff here also provided unpleasant service. It would be fine if it was normal. Royal Host has strict rules for its customers. No remote meetings, no moving of seats, etc. The customers were all people who couldn't follow these rules. I felt bad. And it was a set meal that wasn't even a buffet, but it cost 1,000 yen. The meat was 100% imported. Who is responsible for the rigid policy of not changing the policy when they should stop using imported meat?

The hotel is just round the corner from Hamamatsu station, near the exit where the Hamamatsu visitor centre is located. We stayed in a semi double room, which was quite small but adequate for a couple. Ensuite bathroom and toilet was good, with towels and toiletries. Electric kettle, TV, desk and chair all provided together with a closet to hang clothes. They even provide yukatas for sleeping and slippers. Free coffee/tea sachets can be collected near the reception on the ground floor just outside the lift. A comfortable, clean hotel.
