Beach Commune Simploose (Adult Only)

Have stayed here a couple of times and plan to return again soon. Room is clean and comfortable, onsens were well kept, cleaned daily and very private. Hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Food, both breakfast and dinner was reason enough to stay! Many courses of 5 star quality cooking by the hosts.Great views from the room we had and beautiful beach view to wake up to. A perfect getaway!

Summary : Very enjoyable stay. I would return again for sure. Simploose is run by a husband/wife duo, who are care very much for it and their guests. They both exemplify the very definition of Japanese hospitality. I was made to feel very welcome and special. They even packed me a snack when I checked out! The dinner and breakfast prepared by the host was delicious and generous! I lost count of how many food courses were served at dinner. Simploose being in the Ito Peninsular, it made perfect sense for seafood to the be primary focus of the meals. And he made use many different cooking techniques to prepare elaborate dishes for us to enjoy. We were most impressed. The two onsen (indoor & outdoor) was a really nice touch. You can easily reserve it, making it a private onsen. It has nice view of the sea and city. The beds were comfy to sleep in, and the view at the top floor room was beautiful. Helpful Hints : Don't make the same mistake like I did and show up without advising them you are driving there (this was quite silly of me). They have only one guest carpark, and about 5 guest rooms. So there's a good chance you'll have to park on the street. The nearby streets are uphill and super-narrow, so get advice from them in advance on where to park. The poor host had to run downstairs unexpectedly to help me find parking (which I did). As with many places in Japan, there are lots of stairs here. So those with big, heavy luggage need to take care. I believe that the hosts can assist with pick-up from the nearby Ito train station too, if you coordinate with them ahead of time.

Not worth the money! It's not for family or people who can't walk up many flights of stairs to get to the small reception area and the rooms. The outdoor bathing area was a joke, it was old, dirty and dark and unsafe! Very disappointing, picture is deceiving! It's not a hotel! Make sure you have cash (yen) they don't take credit cards! If not you may have to go down the hill to get some...
