[Prerequisites] ・Family ・Visit by train ・Sightseeing only in Kakegawa for the first time [Good points] ・This is definitely the best hotel in Kakegawa. ・Staff are friendly and smiling, and respond appropriately to inquiries. 【Facility】・Although it is from a while ago, it is still clean. ・The room furniture and appearance are perfect for a city hotel. ・The main dining restaurant is spacious and clean. ・The lobby is very poor considering the size of the hotel. [Location] ・Easy to get to in front of the station ・However, since the center of the city is the north exit (Kakegawa Castle side), there are no restaurants or convenience stores in the surrounding area, even though it is in front of the station. ・To get to the north exit of the station, it is necessary to pass through the station's underground passageway due to the structure. Due to the poor structure of the station, the hotel is unable to take full advantage of its location. ・There was a Family Mart in the alley behind the hotel, but I don't think travelers on the train would notice it at first glance. [Points to be especially careful about] ・The only Chinese restaurant in the hotel that looks good is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. ・On Mondays and Tuesdays, there are no other restaurant options other than the main dining room other than Komeda at the station. 【others】・I requested a twin room next to each other, but for some reason one room was vacant. There were no guests in that one room, but I would like to know why they went to the trouble of doing so.

I spent five nights in the Kakegawa Grand Hotel in September 2019. The hotel is not too expensive but very close to the downtown and the train station. I saw the hotel as we pulled into the train station and I walked to dinner each night to a different restaurant. The Kakegawa Castle was a short walk to the end of the street. The hotel was clean and the staff spoke English with varying degrees of proficiency. Breakfast was good with plenty of western foods in addition to the Japanese items. Eggs cooked to order and a pot of brewed coffee were nice features. A very pleasant stay and I hope to return someday.

The hotel rooms are very dated but clean and really cheap (approx 70€ per night). Breakfast has an ok selection. You do get a welcome drink upon check in. Also breakfast is included in the room rate. Not really much more to say there.
