Kinugawa Green Palace

This hotel looks old but refurbished. We were there in late-October. Beautiful red leaves and flowing Kinugawa river seen from my room was so amazing. Though, it was rainy day, we enjoyed. The onsen in this hotel also good. We had nice buffet dinner with drink all you can, and buffet breakfast. So good! Staffs were so helpful.

This is not really a great hotel for the non-Japanese speaker, as you can probably tell from the majority of the reviews. Although the staff are very nice, they don't speak English - a bit of a problem as they first tried to charge me for (I presume) the full conference bill! That was soon sorted, but the hotel looks like it hasn't been decorated since about 1970, with marked carpets and old furnishings. On the plus side: lovely staff, and the hot springs. On the minus side, the wifi is pretty much non-existent, only in the lobby, and a sliver of bandwidth. My main bad moment was at a buffet dinner - the air conditioning was dripping down from a vent in the ceiling right next to one of the dishes - admittedly a member of staff spotted this and moved the dish, but it is rather off-putting. All in all, I would not recommend.

Arrived at the hotel, I immediately feel that I am going to stay in a very old hotel. Very kind and helpful staff, a good clean tatami room but still I feel comfortable, the feeling that I believe we are looking for wherever we stay. I can feel that 10-20 years ago, it use to be one of the best hotel, but time goes by and to survive and serious renovation immediately need by the hotel.
