Kyukamura Nikko-Yumoto

We stayed here for 2 nights and were very satisfied with the view of the lake (nice walk to go around), the facilities and the food. Rooms as clean and comfortable as can be expected in a Ryokan. Would love to come back. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It was nice to be able to eat in a nice room rather than a buffet. It was nice that there was a mini buffet in addition to the Japanese food. It was also nice to be able to have cake and coffee brought to the room after dinner. There seems to be a buffet course on the first floor. The cafe has an all-you-can-drink menu and is delicious. There seem to be additional rooms, so there are rooms where you take the elevator up, walk down a corridor, and go up and down stairs. Elderly people should be careful when applying. The open-air bath had good water, but it was disappointing that there were only two ceramic single-person baths in the garden-style yard and not a large open-air bath.

It is a big resort com hotel, popular with many local families. Price include buffet breakfast and dinner, which have good choice. I was impressed. The communal hot bath had both indoor and outdoor, and well-maintained. Except that one needs to travel 1.5 hours by local bus from Nikko train station, so it is nearer to the mountains but far from the central Nikko. But definitely recommended if you want to have a quiet place and nearer to the hiking trails.
