Narusawa Lodge

I was travelling with mum and 2 young kids and we stayed in the family room for 2 nights. Yuji was such a fantastic host who was very accommodating, helpful, and made us feel right at home. The family room offers considerable space which the kids loved after staying in smaller rooms and there were great facilities to eat and bring your own food. Yuji is very knowledgable and has great recommendations, speaks very good english and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend to anyone travelling who wants to feel a bit at home in a foreign country, I would (and hope to) stay again

Yuji-San makes you feel welcome. He is helpful and enthusiastic without being interfering. All his recommendations were good. Useful ferrying service to and from town and a local onset, though the walk isn't onerous. Nice rooms. Clean and comfy. Shared facilities work well and all very discreet. Heartily recommended.

It's a 15-20 min walk from the train station, which really isn't a big deal. Also nice to start the day with a stroll to the centre. They do provide a free shuttle to and from the train station twice a day, so be sure to ask about that. The rooms are traditional Japanese, clean, warm and beds are incredibly comfortable. Yuji-san's really friendly and will give you a standard simple tour of the place. Dining room is really nice to sit and have tea in the morning. There are toilets on both floors and a sink as well to make night routines a little easier. A bus will take you from the lodge to the onsen, leaves at 20:00 and is ¥800. There's free wifi from anywhere in the lodge, and your basic needs like hot water, heater and because the place is a walk away from the centre, there are some instant noodles you can buy if you forget on your way back. The downside is that there's only 1 shower for the many rooms there. However, I did not have to wait to use it so perhaps I was lucky.
