Rooms are small but pleasant. Excellent breakfast. Impressive lobby. But... no gym, no lounge..

This hotel is amazing, located within walking distance of the temples, right next to the tourist bus stop. The staff really focus on making sure you have everything, and are very helpful. This is the oldest western hotel in Japan and it is full of style. We had an inclusive package with dinner, and it was a 5 star dinner, full silver service, we are still buzzing. The bar is cosy and full of old charm.

We hope that by the time we make a major renewal, the hospitality mindset will have permeated all of our staff. I was convinced of a lot of things by the low reviews. There are older men who don’t make eye contact when they see each other in the building, or ignore each other without saying hello. I felt that there was a heavy air in the historical dignities. The prices are quite different, but I remember enjoying the Ritz-Carlton Nikko more. I'm glad the young people were acting cheerful.
