It was a short walk from Kinugawa Onsen Station. There is also a parking lot, so you can drive.
We checked in by ourselves in the lobby, but the luggage was carried and the number of rooms was small, so there was no problem.
I was surprised at first by the black tatami because it was a charcoal shop, but I got used to it soon.
I thought the view was one now because it is not along the valley, but I enjoyed the distant view because there are not many tall buildings.
The food was delicious both at night and in the morning.
It was so fulfilling that roommates who always had a second helping of rice were satisfied with just one.
The dessert was also gorgeous.
The public bath is a bit small but the number of customers is small, so I didn't think it was that crowded.
I had a work robe ready, I could borrow a yukata and there were plenty of towels.
The samue was very nice with buttons on the chest.
But what caught my attention was the location by the tracks.
The number of trains is small, but I think people who are concerned are concerned.
You may also want to check your room in advance.

stayed here one night for our visit to Nikko. clean nice well run family onsen hotel. friendly and great service. love the dinner and breakfast, like a feast for foreigners, both for eyes and stomach. enjoyed the onsen both in the evening and in the morning, no one else was using, so much privacy. also enjoyed the out door onsen, although you can hear the trains running pass by, but you dont have to worry about being seen. we are probably the only foreign guests during the time.
hotel is located near the train station, about 5 mins walk, but not next to the river, about 3-5 mins walk also.

Our stay at this lovely ryokan was magical! It's incredibly peaceful (both inside and the surrounding area) and we didn't often see other guests despite it being the height of summer.
Our room was in the charming traditional Japanese style and had all the amenities we expected including a good wifi connection. Our room had an adjoining toilet and sink area. No private shower or bath (I actually hadn't realised when we first booked) but there is an Onsen on the ground floor with showers for you to wash at before you go in. I did have to overcome a deep set fear of public nudity before I plucked up the courage to use the Onsen (blame being British!?) but I'm seriously glad that I did as it was the most unique and brilliant experience ever. I would highly recommend it to everyone! After all my fussing I ended up getting the whole Onsen to myself anyway and shouldn't have worried in the first place. If you're nervous about Onsen etiquette, there is plenty about it online and on YouTube! I now know it would be really sad to miss out on such an experience. Marukyo's Onsen is particularly good as it has an outdoor and indoor section. The outdoor section was definitely my favourite and lovely to sit in at night time. Beautifully lit and hidden away by plants and foliage! Steamy hot and lovely on the skin.
Would definitely stay here again.
