The riverside hot springs are beautiful, but the overall concept is very pretentious. What they sell as "kaiseki" is, at best, just as good as regular izakaya food. Neither the staff nor the manager shows any signs of evil. This is not an authentic Japanese experience, but a complete snatch.

Set on steep slopes in the heart of the Iya Valley, the hotel truly allows for an incomparable moment of healing in the calm of nature. The Japanese-style rooms allow you to enjoy the surrounding nature directly from the terrace. After 5 minutes by funicular, you reach the hot spring of the hotel on the banks of the river for an invigorating moment. Possibility to book a room with meal included which turns out to be a succession of small dishes allowing to discover the flavors of this area of Shikoku Island. Possibility of choice for breakfast between western and Japanese versions.

Last time, it was a room close to the cable car stand. The room I was able to book this time was on the sixth floor. This is a hotel with no elevator. Even after getting off the cable car, you have to go down more stairs to the open-air bath. The 6th floor was too difficult for the parents of the late elderly. In some rooms, it is only natural that you have to be well to go to the secluded hot springs. We need to be aware of this. The open-air bath is lukewarm, so you can have a long bath. It makes your skin smooth and smooth and the location is great! It's worth the trouble. Once again, the main dinner is grilled ayu with salt. There is no sashimi. We had a wide variety of breakfasts, especially river fish boiled in sweet soy sauce! I was very satisfied with the local food. Also, the Imabari towel was good.
