KAMENOI HOTEL NACHI KATSUURA

A little old hotel but great facilities. Couldn’t use the public onsen cos of my tattoos but bathroom offers onsen water on top which is great. Have to lay the futon and no turndown service but it was easy. Free flow lounge drinks and even free flow noodles in the evening

We were disappointed by the cleanliness of the hotel and the lack of facilities. We were hoping for a relaxing stay but this hotel did not deliver. The beds were very uncomfortable and there was not an area where you could relax with friends. The smell was not pleasant in the room. The staff were inflexible and the restaurant seemed to operate independently from the hotel. You needed to reserve breakfast or dinner 48 hours before check in. Overall this was a disappointing stay, given the price charged.

We had 3 days at this hotel - when I first arrived it felt very different from the new modern glitzy hotels we stayed at in Hiroshima and Osaka but very quickly we appreciated its charm. We had room 107 which was a western twin with its own outdoor onsen pool. The room was spacious and well equipped with an interesting blend of western bedding but pretty much Japanese feel. The room looks out over the harbour and at night it’s an amazing view The public onsen at this hotel is super with both indoor and outdoor thermal pools that can be enjoyed until midnight - although they do close ( sort of) from mid morning until 3pm, This hotel offered an amazing Japanese Kaiseki dinner as part of our package along with a sumptuous Japanese style breakfast of similar proportions. Note that they only serve tea for breakfast - you need to get your coffee from the free coffee bar next to the gift shop. I’d suggest to management that they put a coffee pot in the breakfast dining area along with the existing self service tea facility. The staff were lovely and we become more and more enamoured with the place the longer we stayed. For constructive feedback to management I suggest a revamp of the guest room access corridors in particular and the guest room staircases - they are really tired and shabby and not befitting of the overall hotel experience - a poor first impression as you find your way to the room. They look more like a 1970s government office block corridor than a hotel corridor. Two final things I love the Japanese dance and flute performances that occur at the front gazebo - they were performed by two very accomplished ladies and I really really enjoyed it. Overall great experience at this hotel - thankyou
