The hotel was situated across the road from Lake Kawaguchiko and we were lucky enough to have a room with a view of Mount Fuji. The room was reasonably small but it did have large single beds. There was also a small table and chair and a desk. The bathroom was small but adequate and the shower was hot and strong. The decor in the rooms and public areas was dated and a little tired. We had the buffet dinner and breakfast and both of these had an array of Japanese and western favourites.

Fortunately only stayed one night solo as part of a small group tour taking in 9 hotels, so this review is relatively objective. Great lakeside location, with a possible view of Mount Fuji from the shoreline. A dated and tired establishment which obviously relies on its location to stay in business. This is a group tour hotel (yes us!) lacking in any character. Had to the worst of the 9 hotels used. Small cramped single room which served for a nights sleep, but that’s about it. I guess the tour company rate was responsible for a view of the fire escape and a wall versus a lake view from the rooms at the front. Breakfast was served in what can only be described as a canteen. Suited all tastes and just about did the job, but no more. The lobby area faces the lake, but had very limited seating (6) to admire the view. Only seemed one restaurant within walking distance (next door), so make sure you have a reservation to avoid a taxi ride into town.

I had a room with amazing views of the lake, cherry blossoms, and Mt. Fuji. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room and bathroom were small, making it hard to change inside the bathroom. It was my first time seeing a shared tap between the shower and washbasin. Smart move for small spaces. There was in-house onsen. Breakfast included both western and Japanese dishes, and guests cleared their own tables. We had the buffet dinner and it was a nice selection of food. The ic-creams were delicious. Wifi was reliable, and there was no in-room safe. Limited hanging space meant clothes stayed in luggage. There is a small complimentary coffee/tea station near the reception.
