Shuhoukaku Kogetsu

Our stay at Shuhokaku Kogetsu was unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome, and the entire experience showcased the warmth of Japanese hospitality. A special thank you to Hinata, who went above and beyond to take care of our family. Hinata thoughtfully introduced us to traditional Japanese hospitality and guided us through our authentic Japanese dinner, making the experience both enjoyable and memorable. Traveling with a young family can sometimes be challenging, but staff was incredibly considerate, patient, and attentive to our needs, which made us feel completely at ease. The hotel is exceptionally family-friendly, and every detail seemed designed to make guests comfortable. We also booked a private onsen, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. It was peaceful, beautifully maintained, and offered a truly relaxing experience. We highly recommend Shuhokaku Kogetsu to anyone visiting the area, especially families looking for an authentic, relaxing, and welcoming Japanese ryokan experience. We can't wait to return!

One of the best rated places to stay in Fuji Valley. Whether it is a hot spring food location is great. The only thing we can't see Mount Fuji, it is completely depending on the weather, each room can see the view of Mount Fuji, we live on the 3rd floor, but there is no imaginary low, and the private hot tub is the same level, we came to the first day completely blocked by clouds, we got up at 3:30 a.m. to see Mount Fuji in the evening, until about 7:00 a.m. It is really recommended to get up in the morning to see Mount Fuji. The hotel's dinner is very rich and is also divided into several dishes, which is basically the level of the luxury restaurant. There is specialized service, very high-end breakfast buffet is also great, and afternoon tea is provided. The hotel offers an hourly shuttle service from the station, but only in the afternoon and in the morning. We bought a day tour coupon, Japanese $1500 has a direct stop to the hotel door is convenient. The open-air hot springs are also beautiful, and you can also see Mount Fuji. It opens at 5 a.m. and is open until 12 p.m. There is only a rest in the noon, so get up in the morning to see the cold state of Mount Fuji, you can go to the hot spring immediately.

My experience with this hotel’s reservation process was extremely frustrating. Although they claim that bookings open 4 months in advance, the dates never appeared online. After reading many blogs and reviews, it seems that Japanese guests can book much earlier, while foreign visitors are left without any real chance to reserve. I emailed the hotel months ago and was told to book on a specific day between 9:00–12:00 Japan time. Because of the time difference, I stayed awake the whole night , only to discover that nothing was opened: not on their official website, not on Rakuten, not on Jalan, even though these were recommended by the hotel. This gives the impression that rooms are intentionally blocked, creating a false sense of exclusivity. There are many ryokans in the area that are honest and respect their own booking policies. Sadly, I cannot recommend this property based on this experience.
