Later Review : Check-in was swift - the reception is a few levels up. The hotel is old and tired however things worked fine and is maintained reasonably well. The views are breathtaking. The bed linen was crisp and clean and the bed could be more comfortable. Breakfast was on their rooftop restaurant and one couldn't ask for a better view. The breakfast buffet was just about average and can do with some improvement. The gym was adequate. Overall it was a comfortable and clean hotel.

I was in two minds about this hotel. The fabric of the hotel is very tired, and the building either should be knocked down or majorly refurbished. On the morning I left, there was barely any hot water in the bathroom. That said, the room was very comfortable (minor caveats; the chair by the desk was very uncomfortable indeed, but everything else was fine). The bed was very hard, but I quite like that. Sound insulation was excellent as far as I could tell, but the hotel was also very quiet, this being the summer season, when the city is quiet. The best thing about it is the staff, who were friendly, helpful, down-to-earth, and very efficient. The best part of the hotel, no doubt. The hotel itself is about 20 mins from the airport when the traffic is light, as on a Friday. It's about 15 mins from The Avenues mall, which is worth a visit, and 2 mins from the Al Hamra Mall, which is small but perfectly formed. Really good food options at the Al Hamra. The hotel is also half a block from the truly excellent Ovo restaurant, which is highly recommended. Cabs were easy to get, so the location is fine. One final point - the main photo of the hotel pool is not of the pool at this hotel. Safir's pool was a major disappointment, as is the gym, which is tiny, and had kids playing in it the one time I went to check on it.

Liked our stay here. Breakfast was good and had a nice variety that met all the tastes. Staff were friendly, specially Ahmad, the Life Guard at the swimming pool, he was very helpful and responding. The Swimming pool was nice and clean however not too big.
