Villa Keoseumsack

This hostel has some good rooms with air conditioning for 130000 kip. The rooms are very big and the air conditioning works very well. The room was a little dirty around the edges. Our faucet was broken so we had to turn on the water from under the sink.

The hotel in the heart of Maung Xai is fine for the traveler. The drive from Luang Prabang or Phongsali is not one to try. The roads are virtually not passable. Flying there will make the trip bearable. Only coffee provided in the morning. Good Laotian style restaurants nearby.

A pleasant Lao style Guest House in a rural capital increasingly over run with Chinese guest houses. Located on the main road through town, rooms at the front are noisy from trucks going through town all night. Rooms at the back are quiet, large and clean with a small fridge. Rooms are surprisingly cool, good in the hot but not so in the cool season. Breakfast is not always available but there is a great place 200 metres down the road on the other side of the road towards the airport. It has internet but uses a less frequentlt used security protocol so I couldn't connect.
