Samxay Hotel

Went to this place and checked the room, which I walked away straight away. Its near nothing, there is no wifi as said there was, everything was under construction and building, which they did not tell you on booking.com website. The rooms smelt of damp and mold and not clean. The people there didn't bother helping me when I asked about wifi. Do not go here, you are better of going in the centre.

We've been travelling for around 3 months now so we've stayed in our fair share of guest houses, but we've never come across this before! We had to get a tuk tuk from the centre to find it! It's not central, they were in the middle of a full scale reform when we arrived, we then agreed on a price (80,000kip) and they showed us the rooms which were ok but there was no electricity/wifi/ water because of the works. Things started to feel a bit fishy but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and head out for some lunch, when we returned there was a different woman on reception demanding we paid more money for the room! Nearly double! She kept shouting "YOU PAY YOU PAY!! " By this time there were angle grinders, jackhammers, cement mixers all going off! We decided to leave rather than being bullied into paying more money to sleep on a building site! She then tried to charge us for the hour that our bags were in the room or she would call the police!!!! We had to walk 2km back into town with our bags! Later we met another couple who were staying there and they said the same thing happened to them but they paid!
