Lakeo Belle Villa

Pros: 1. Near Patuxay Victory Gate (5 mins walk) 2. Near Patuxay Cafe (2 mins walk), which is a quite well-known restaurant in town 3. Clean room & toilet. Cons: 1. Quite hard to find taxi or tuk-tuk. 2. Quite far from Riverside ( about 30 mins by tuk-tuk) 3. No restaurant 4. No hair dryer

The first thing to know about Lakeo is the location, it is NOT near the river Mekong like most Vientiane guesthouses where farangs stay. It is 100 yards/metres from Patuxay, the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane. That may be good or bad, it is quiet place anyway, Vientiane is a small capital city, very walkable, you can take a (overpriced) tuktuk, if you like to the centre Talat Sou or Riverside. It is near the tourist LOCATIONS, but NOT near where the majority of tourists are sleeping ! Well, i would say Lakeo is very clean place, with everything that you would want really, newspaper, WiFi, TV, fridge, umbrella if you are staying in the monsoon season, helpful english speaking staff, good price (in USD which is dropping quickly against the Kip). 2 bottles of water daily (good for the DRYseason), laundry, 1 trip to airport, erm yes, it has all the facilities of a 4 star hotel, to be honest, maybe all Laos guest houses are the same ? I think probably not ! hoho. Yes i liked it a lot, free bicycle, which is very useful, a tiny bit dangerous in Laos, particularly if you have come from left hand side driving Thailand .There are a few restaurants nearby, just ordinary ones, and few shops , a supermarket just around the corner. There is breakfast available, a drinks fridge selling the crisp delicious BeerLao. I can't think of anything bad really, maybe the WiFi didn't quite have a good strength in my room, but apart from that ............ Well Done !
