Holiday Villa Beach Resort and Spa Langkawi

While the resort is located on a quiet part of the island, the resort is dated in some ways such as limited outlets in the room and an AC that struggled to keep up with the outside even when set on high. We stayed on the ground floor and the room’s sliding glass door to the outside was difficult to use and lock. The bathroom shower had a glass barrier that partially keeps the bathroom dry but ours leaked from the bottom creating some mess.the resort provides two refillable glass bottles for drinking water which is better than plastic water bottles and after a day or so. Housekeeping started giving us three bottles each day. The king sized bed was fairly comfortable and my 11 year old fit the couch bed that was made up for her to sleep in. We rarely heard any noises outside the room. Buffet breakfast has a good mix of Asian and Western food. We could find a place to sit even during the morning rush. We had dinner at the beach bar our first night when a cover band was playing. The food was fine and reasonably priced. The cover band was very good and played a wide range of songs.The weekly fire dancers performance was mediocre compared to performances elsewhere on the island and Malaysia. We went to the 24 hour Ole restaurant a few times for a quick snack or dessert, We opted to pay to use the pool at Glass bar for the view of the beach and it was generally worth it factoring the free drink and taking advantage of the buy one pizza get one free offer. The two get one free beer deal is also a decent deal, but not amazing compared to the cost of beer. Compared to Kedah, this area of the beach is fairly quiet with some traffic from jet skis and motorboats. There are some restaurants and shops outside of the resort though we often took an inexpensive Grab into town for dinner and to walk around. There is also a few inexpensive places to get laundry done outside the resort. The resorts staff are very friendly and accommodating. We only had a few minor issues during our stay. One day housekeeping was very behind in cleaning rooms so didn’t make it to our room. We dropped Ike is the edible glass bottles in our room and it took calling housekeeping and going to the front desk to get it resolved.I used Grab to order a few items and there was some confusion about where they were delivered too. Staff helped me find it. Overall, Langkawi is more expensive than the rest of Malaysia. We opted to mostly stay at our resort and not go on any excursions due to the higher prices. We prefer Thai beaches, but if returning to Langkawi we would certainly consider staying at this resort again.
