Leo Express Hotel

I am pretty seasoned traveler, and I don't demand much, but this place made me consider leaving before I had finished check-in! The check in was a nightmare. There was, of course, a security deposit to be paid (in cash) and an additional tourist fee that Malaysia doesn't seem to be able to live without.... so, ok. There is no breakfast, so if you booked one, you won't get one. The Internet is NOT only in the lobby, as was earlier reported; it worked reasonably well. Malaysian plug adaptors are avail able for free or a fee depending on who you ask... The young guy who worked reception seemed to be the nicest guy, so try to find him. The pros: umm.... not far from the Pudu train station. And that's about the only pro, unless, like me, you enjoy exploring authentic working class restaurants and food stalls. The neighborhood is a reflection of Malaysia's diverse population... unfortunately a a lot of the people (including homeless Rohingya refugees) and many undocumented workers are always in the area around the hotel. While we never senses danger, it's a seedier, more 'true' reflection of working class KUL. The cons: we stayed for a week and our room was only made up the day after we arrived (and only because we asked). No hot water, not even warm. AC worked ok, but the rooms are not insulated or sound-proofed in any way. There is an air shaft running the height of the building, and you cannot close the window sized opening in the shower... so you can hear every sort of human noise , people singing in the shower or other unsavory things at all hours. We did get to her some lovely Maria Callas arias from another floor one morning at 6:45am, so I guess it was not all bad. The common areas are filthy. The carpets are soiled beyond repair. Laundry from the rooms, cleaning supplies, towels are just dumped randomly near the elevators. If you like to hear the conversations or arguments of fellow guests...This is the place. The bidet hose was a limp, simple rubber hose with a shut-off, and its use was quite a challenge and usually resulted in spraying water everywhere... The bed was acceptable, but the linen was mismatched, and the sheets and blankets had rather unique cigarette burns in them. There is a hot water kettle in the room, but if you want coffee or tea, you have to pay extra for it. Not even bottled water is provided for free. Laundry service, like breakfast, is advertised, but not available. To Review: Because I booked this hotel as a part of a package with my credit card provider, the entire package - including hotel - was actually cheaper than the flights alone if booked separately. It's the only reason we didn't check out.

I usually don’t give 1-star ratings unless something really goes wrong. Unfortunately, in this case, I feel it’s justified. Here’s my experience: For context, I stayed here for 7 nights. ⛔ I booked a twin deluxe room with a window view online, right in front of the front desk. I even showed my Agoda confirmation to the staff, and he assured me everything was confirmed and assigned me a room. So far, so good. But later that evening, as I was leaving the hotel, a front desk staff member stopped me outside on the road and asked for a deposit. It felt very strange, why bring this up now? When I questioned it, he told me my booking hadn’t actually been confirmed. That was shocking, especially since I had already paid. My booking only got properly confirmed around midnight. Honestly, it felt like I was staying there unofficially for that night despite having done everything correctly on my end. ⛔ During my stay, I was given torn towels on 3 different days. Each time I raised it, they apologized but the same issue kept happening. ⛔ The cleanliness was also a serious concern. There were cockroaches in the room, and it didn’t seem like the management was addressing it. At night, you could even feel them crawling while trying to sleep. ⛔ Another issue was housekeeping. The person assigned was an elderly woman, likely over 60. While I respect her effort, she didn’t seem physically capable of handling the workload, and it affected the service quality. Overall, I believe there are many affordable hotels out there that offer a much better experience. I wouldn’t recommend staying here but of course, choice is yours.

I stayed a week at Leo express and i was very happy there. The room was big, the bathroom even bigger, both had big windows ! The aircon worked very well, fridge as well and you can save nature by using the water refill outside your room. Bed was big and comfortable and houskeeping did a wonderful job changing towels and linens and keeping the room clean. Also wifi was strong and working. Walking distance to Pudu station or even Bukit Bintang if you enjoying walking like me. Many restaurants the neighborhood. The best thing about this hotel is absolutely the reception staff who was very professional and helpful, assisting me with all kinds of things. Special thanks to the wonderful Max at the reception, who did all his best everyday to make my stay memorable. Thank you all staff at Leo Express for a good holiday !
