This IHG hotel is a good one along the Strait of Malacca.
My family had a great time staying here and it's proximity to a nearby mall is convenient. The staff are nice and the bell hops too.
It's close to the historic distric of Malacca, a bit far to Encore Malacca but with a Grab car its worth the trip.
The pool and gym here are excellent too.

The room is comfortable and spacious. Shower pressure is strong. What impressed me most is the staff at the 2nd floor dining. So helpful and friendly.

I usually stay at the DoubleTree, but since they were fully booked for the long weekend, I decided to stay at the Holiday Inn. First impression? A bit of a "time travel" moment—everything is quite old-school and no USB ports. But honestly, the "antique" vibe isn't too bad once you settle in.
The Pros:
- Friendly Staff: The service team is quite welcoming and kind.
- Quality Breakfast: While the variety isn't huge, the quality and taste are good, and there is plenty of seating.
- Well-Maintained Facilities: Even though the hotel is older, the amenities are kept in very good condition, which shows the management’s effort.
- Convenient Parking: Plenty of parking spaces and very easy to access.
- Prime Location: Centrally located and convenient for getting anywhere in Melaka.
- The room was clean and tidy
The Cons:
- The curtains need fixing/upgrading—they wouldn't close properly, defeating their purpose.
- Poor shower drainage. The floor slope not really good, causing water to pool in the middle of the bathroom.
- Poor soundproofing. I was in Room 415, right next to the pool. I had a late night with friends and hoped to sleep in, but was woken up early by kids shouting in the pool. I requested a room change since I was staying for two nights, but the front desk said they were fully booked. I could see a stack of check-in documents on the desk—couldn't one of those rooms have been prioritized for a room change? Also, I requested a high floor when booking, yet I was given the lowest floor possible.
- Communication issues between the front desk and housekeeping: A cleaner opened my door at 10++ AM despite my "Do Not Disturb" sign and the fact that I hadn't checked out. Then at 4 PM, they opened it again, claiming my room was on their list. If you can’t give me a room change, at least don't try to kick me out when I'm staying for two nights!
