I had a very bad experience at Shahzan Inn Kuantan during check-in. We booked four rooms, and one of them (Room 607) was clearly not ready, yet the front office still issued the room key. When we entered the room, it had a very strong and pungent smell of urine, making it completely unhygienic and unfit to stay. I immediately went back to the front office to request a room change and was attended by a staff member named Fara. Instead of assisting, she was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. She refused to reassign another room and bluntly told me that I could either accept the room as it was or leave the hotel. To make matters worse, she asked me to wait until she finished handling the check-in queue, repeatedly saying she was “very busy,” as if a hygiene complaint was not important. There was no apology, no empathy, and no attempt to resolve the issue. Being given a room that smells of urine is already unacceptable. The way the front office handled the situation — especially the rude attitude and refusal to help — made the experience far worse. I do not recommend this hotel, and management seriously needs to review their cleanliness standards and front office staff training.

Nothing exceptional about the hotel or the stay but because of its location it will enable you to soak up the Malaysian experience outside the hotel once evening arrive.
