Belum Rainforest Resort

We were in room 2005. The room was quiet, clean and tidy. The bathroom is a little unusual. The bed was somewhat "firm", probably too firm for most people. Breakfast in the Hornbill Restaurant is OK with a balance of western and Asian foods. We ate dinner at the other restaurant and we were disappointed. The choice was very limited and the quality somewhat variable. Furthermore, our main course arrived first, twice before getting the starter course. The waitstaff are very young, inexperienced and simply do not understand the job. The chef needs some education as well. We took a number of tours in the hope of seeing some wildlife. The guides were very noisy, with the result that any wildlife would disappear into the bush. In our 4 days at BRR, we only only saw one elephant as it walked into the bush. The "guides" seem to prioritise their schedule over the customer experience. Too much time was spent in transit between sites on interest. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

You arrive in an environment that can offer a lot, but remains underused. As if there is no enthusiasm in the managers. More than half the menu is not available in the restaurant. A boat trip is not possible, because there is no staff, a drink is served basic without making an experience of it etc. Subsequently, the staff does not speak sufficient and inadequate English. Which is a shame for tourism. I don't recommend this stop.
