Kukurutz Residencia

Having traveled a lot in Latin America, we expect to pay a lot for an excellent place to stay and even then can find the lodging lacking in something. Kukurutz is affordable, beautiful, clean, creatively decorated and absolutely charming. The staff are warm, attentive and fun to interact with. People keep coming back here as we have learned speaking with other guests. It is understandable. The garden is lovely. There is art everywhere. The location is great, near the big city market. The grounds are safe and insulated from the street. A few rooms have beautiful views of the mountains. The owners feed street dogs during the day because they have such big hearts. They also participate in neutering them.

Our room was upstairs which was a little difficult as they didnt’ have anyone to help with bags.....but once we were there it was beautiful....so spacious and comfortable. I loved all the tiles that were everywhere.....I think I counted 12 different tiles! It was great for us traveling with a dog and a cat as we could walk our dog in the lovely garden and spacious for our cat to wander around too. I liked the location as it was close to several good restaurants and a easy walk to markets and the plaza. We didn’t stay long enough to cook but that is something we want to remedy by returning to stay on our return trip.

Both my wife and I loved our stay here. It's a lovely space that has been designed and built thoughtfully. Having a furnished apartment can have its advantages and we used the kitchen more than we thought we would. I liked reading on the couches. Our room was Max which I think is one of the smaller units but was more than large enough. There is a great wide view of both the garden and the hills, and it has a private deck. The "chocolate on the pillow" was so delicious that I ordered a box for my workmates back home. Staff are very nice.
