We went to this hotel because we were specifically told that they had "hot water" which I need for medical reasons. Our earlier hotel did not and this seems to be a real problem for some Mexican owned hotels. We found that they did NOT have hot water and when we complained, the front desk person just smiled and laughed. Stayed one night. No hot water - had to clean my medical equipment with alcohol. Room was clean but not maintained properly - missing light shades, drain covers, no side tables, no lighting other than one ceiling beacon. Breakfast was not the typical American-typical breakfast as advertised. One coffee only, no bread, no juice. The only redeeming point was the excellent service from Lulu in the breakfast area. I would not hesitate to say this was the WORST of 10 hotels we stayed at in our 40 day journey through the Yucatan and Chiapas.

We stayed for a week, the hotel is central, however, the building is already old, there is quite a lot of good maintenance, the attention of the staff is good in some, they still lack a lot of culture of service, we could not use the pool throughout our stay, the only salvageable thing is the food, at least some dishes were very rich, from there on out if they have much to improve.

I really enjoyed my stay in Maria Eugenia Hotel! The staff was very friendly with me, the breakfast delicious, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. If you get a higher floor you can have a nice view over the city.
