Aura del Mar

We planned this trip 8 month in advance. We visit Zihua every year and this year wanted to try a different spot. 10 days before departure we confirmed with the hotel- we had provided a one night deposit but never received a receipt even though I asked for one. A week before departure unfortunately Mexico experienced country wide unrest including burning vehicles and store and restaurant closures. The US issued travel advisories. We asked the hotel to apply our deposit to a future stay and the hotel refused. This is terrible customer service and inexcusable. We will not rebook and will choose one of the great other places we have stayed at in the past.

This is a beautiful Mexican hotel. It has 30 rooms built into the hillside. Our room was large. The view from our room was outstanding. The air conditioning was very good. The 2 beds were good. There is a safe and a small refrigerator. Bottled water was provided daily. The shower needs an upgrade. The staff is excellent. The breakfast is cooked to order. The food at the Bistro Del Mar was excellent. The hotel exceeded my expectations. I hope to stay here again.

My friend and I were staying Troncones for the week but wanted one night in Zih to take advantage of the Dia De Los Muertos activities. Found this place as well rated and well priced. It was an excellent choice. Beautiful, lushed terraced property with wonderful views of the bay. Service was outstanding, Roxy and team were very accommodating, kind and professional. Rooms were very clean, beds comfy, private veranda with the bay view and a good sized bathroom with plenty of hot water. Pool was nice but hanging out in the bugalos on the sand right next to the bay was perfect. Breakfast was very tasty and open late, until 11am. Also very centrally located, about a 10 minute walk to the heart of Zih. Do be aware (as noted in other posts), there are many stairs. Overall, an amazing experience - we will be coming again, for sure!
