Hostel del Refugio

This place was under construction. The rooms are clean but the host was not friendly. She greeted us with an angry tone when we knocked instead of ringing the doorbell which we could not see and she remained rude throughout our stay of 3 days and 2 nights. We did enjoy the walking to the city cemetery which took about 15 minutes. We felt safe. If the host had been friendly this hostel would be a greater recommendation by us

After searching many hostels with a private bathroom & good shower at a reasonable price; I finally found this. The shower could be better but compared to what one can find in Mexico, I was satisfied with this. They have the best refrigeration system that I have seen in a hostel. They have a good blender too. The owners Gustav & Miriam are helpful and pleasant. I ended up staying here for more than 6 months and intend to come back here the next time I am in Guadalajara. I

Safe and friendly place to stay. A hostel with private rooms. There is a shared kitchen and roof top terrace. A quiet property in a relatively central neighbourhood. The public market and a couple of decent eating options are nearby. About 20 minutes walk to the old center. Clean rooms.
