Hotel Malibu

We stayed here ahead of the Uruguay Spain World Cup match taking place at the Guadalajara stadium. The price was massively over inflated due to the fact that the match was in the city and was nowhere near worth the money we paid. In fact, I think we paid £300 for one night and can honestly say you’d have to pay me to stay there again I agree with other reviews that the male staff particularly at front desk were incredibly unhelpful, didn’t speak much English and fact one didn’t speak great Spanish. There was just one nice helpful member of staff - Samantha, so if you’re very lucky you’ll be helped by her. The rooms were miles away from reception, and annoyingly the cards they gave you often did not work in the lift so you had to go all the way back to reception again, which was very frustrating. Rooms were clean but very basic - so much so that there was not even shower gel in the bathroom - just a tiny bar of soap, which was a joke. Also the location is not good, you are at least 30 minutes away from anywhere including the old town and the stadium. Overall, a very disappointing one night stay, would not stay again and certainly would not recommend this place.

My wife Googled hotels in Guadalajara and selected Malibu Hotels. We booked and arrived in later Oct. 2025. The room we were assigned was clean but not anything as nice as posted. We were there for Stem cell Therapy. On our first morning, we attended to the breakfast brunch. We were met by a lady at the check in and observed a senior gent (owner? manager?} standing only a few feet away. He obviously was observing the interactions with those entering. We advised we didn't have pasos but that we could pay in US funds. The lady advised it would be 32.00 for both. We paid this and proceeded to have our breakfast. The next day we returned and met the same lady. On this date the senior gent was absent. We paid 32.00 US and proceeded to get our food. Just as we were about to start eating, the lady came to our table and rudely said we owed her another 32.00. I was shocked and upset to hear this. I reminded her quickly that we had paid the 32.00. She continued and when she noticed we weren't conceding to paying her another 32.00 and that we were about to walk out she said, "OK, eat your breakfast". She walked away and went back to her check-in counter. She had alerted others who were sitting near us and caused us major embarrassment. We certainly didn't return. We wonder if the senior gentleman was there that day after having received other similar complaints. This was a very, very upsetting incident.

The hotel very nice, but the beds terribly uncomfortable, every day we wake up with a sore back, and with a headache, the lousy pillows, full of balls. A hotel is to rest can be very nice, but if it is uncomfortable it does not fulfill its function. Besides the floor of the room never mopped, it felt the earth from day one.
