Amaca Hotel & Spa

Our stay at Amaca Hotel Puerto Vallarta had some positives — the room was clean and the staff were generally friendly — but a major issue significantly impacted my experience. We were placed in room 302, directly below the pool, with the DJ decks set up on the balcony right above us. The hotel hosted a DJ event from approximately 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and the noise level was extremely loud — comparable to being inside a nightclub. It made the room essentially unusable for most of the day. There was no warning about this at the time of booking or at check-in, which is unacceptable given how disruptive it was. When we raised the issue with the front desk, we were told a room change was not possible, and they didn’t have earplugs available to offer as a basic solution. Rooms in this location should either be blocked off during events like this or guests should be clearly warned in advance. We booked a hotel room expecting a place to rest, not a club experience in the room. This situation could have been avoided with proper communication and more thoughtful room assignments. If the hotel plans to host loud, all-day events, guests should be informed ahead of time or not placed in rooms directly affected by the noise.

Like many other reviewers..... their cancellation policy was not super clear. Then, we found the room quite dingy and dirty (a hair ball in the corner of the shower ---- a shower that backed up to my ankles every day). And, no water from the hot water tap on the first morning of our stay. Oh, and the walls are so thin I could every single word uttered between a couple hooking up in the next room. Great views, yes. I enjoyed the patio, yes. Beyond that, I'd highly recommend you keep looking.

The reservation service (Guest Reservations via Expedia) for this hotel is a total ripoff! I made a reservation via the number on the website and was told that there would be a cancellation fee if I needed to cancel. I was misled about the amount, being told that of my $555 reservation, I would get a refund of $432. As it turned out, I needed to cancel within a few hours later that same day, having learned of a family emergency. When I called to cancel, I was informed that the cancellation fee was $432, NOT the refund amount. I was misled and cheated by this service, who refused to make any exception to this greedy policy! Beware ... these people are not to be trusted!
