Comfort Inn Puerto Vallarta

I recommend the Comfort Inn Golfside, PV. The location is great, easy walk to the Marina. The Marina has some great restaurants and Thursday market. The rooms are clean but NO bar fridge for the queen rooms...unless you pay daily for one. Showers only. No bath tubs, good hot water! Comfy beds, pillows decent. The staff are friendly...thanks Alejandro (front desk) for always greating us with your beautiful smile! Alejandro speaks fluent English which makes asking questions easy. The breakfast buffet is good for scrambled eggs, pancakes, yogurt, granola, fruit, bread, OJ, cereal, coffee, tea. 3 of the hot trays always have a Mexican flare. To me more of a lunch spread...refried beans (more a gravy) & tacos by 10 am not really my jam. I get costs are up so no sausage, ham, bacon or potatoes. We had cheese burgers & fries by the pool 2nd to last dinner...OMG so good! One of the best burgers! Our server was great too...friendly! We did not realize there is a restaurant for lunch or dinner as it is not mention or advertised. The pool and lounge chairs were good. Although the patio around the pool/chairs was always crawling with ants, everywhere! This was a bit annoying for putting any thing on the ground. I hope they can resolve this issue. Sometimes I was swatting them off me. The golf course looks good was quiet. No golfing deals here...too bad! If your not looking to be on the beach or downtown good location. Bery close to the airport. Walking distance to Walmart, Sam's club or Sorianas for groceries. 10 minute bus ride or so to pickleball courts, Puerto Magico and further down the road Los Tules...book ahead! Too hot and long to walk!

I have traveled to PV several times over the years and have typically stayed at beech side resort hotels. The last few years I have chosen to stay in the Marina area but it has gotten pricey. I had noticed that the Comfort Inn was usually fairly inexpensive so I finally gave it a go. For about $100 per night, it was less than half the price of the resorts I have stayed at on previous trips. In recent years I have gravitated toward US brand hotels and away from local brands. We had a pretty good stay with one exception, water temperature. The water temp was insanely unreliable no mater what time of day, it was a game of chance, one that I seemed to never fully win. I told the front desk staff about the water and was advised to turn on the bathroom sink faucet and let it run until the water was hot, this they suggested would help warm up the shower water temperature. I tried this every day/night and it did not seem to help. The water coming out of the sink was rarely hot and sometimes not even warm. We tried a different room but same result. The staff are very gracious and friendly. Everyone I encountered was pleasant and professional. They really made us feel welcome. The Hotel sits next to the main road from the airport to downtown. It is just a couple of blocks from the Marina district with lots of shopping and restaurants. The Marina Golf Club is right next to the hotel. We enjoyed the locating even walking from the airport to the hotel but with little luggage and mild weather. The hotel has a small pool and outside patio; we enjoyed relaxing in this area. Breakfast was included with our stay. It was a mix of American and Mexican dishes. I always got plenty to eat and was mostly satisfied with the food. The breakfast room staff were on top of everything and are super kind. Surprise, it does not look it but the breakfast room is also the restaurant/bar. You would not know this as it is not intuitive. The tables are bare the lighting is bright and a large screen tv is usually tuned to sports with no patrons to watch it. It just looks like a breakfast room after breakfast with no other service provided, but you need only ask. We had diner here the evening before checkout. It lacks ambience and the vibe is just not restaurant like. No matter they have a full menu. The food was pretty good and the prices we fairer than at the Marinas restaurants. The servers are attentive and pleasant. I did not observe hardly any other diners utilizing this restaurant after breakfast. It could get crowed during breakfast but after words it was more like a kept secret that you could get either food or drink in this room. Few hotels have a magnified mirrors but each of our rooms at this Comfort Inn had vanity magnified mirrors in the bathroom. This may not seem like a major detail but it is great if you need to see your own contact lens. Very much appreciated this seemingly small detail. Our room and the grounds were reasonably clean. This is not a young property so its age is a factor. When it was time to depart the desk agent got us cab in under 30 seconds, about $4 US to get back to the Airport. I could stay here again especially if they get the water temperature sorted out.

Stayed for one night and had a really frustrating experience. We were placed in a room directly below a floor undergoing heavy renovation. The construction started at 9am and was so loud I couldn’t even hear my partner speaking next to me. When we raised the issue with reception, there was barely an apology and no attempt to resolve it. After pushing to speak with someone more senior, we eventually got in touch with a manager, Nallely Gomez, who admitted they’d messed up—acknowledging that there were plenty of rooms available on quieter floors, and we never should’ve been put where we were. She offered a “significant discount” on a future stay at any hotel in the chain and gave me her contact details. I followed up by email afterward, but never received a response. Really disappointing all around—poor communication, zero accountability, and no care for guest comfort. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
