Hacienda Matel By Experience Resorts

We booked a room at Hacienda Caudillos, which looked charming and had a restaurant. When we arrived we found out that there was no cook, so no food provided, AND they were having a stay at a completely different faceless place across town. Isabel was very friendly and helpful but she spoke no English and was only did what she was told to do - house us elsewhere. This was absolutely false advertising!

Hacienda Matel is now called Hotel Boutique Haucienda Caudillos. It's a lovely Hacienda style hotel set just below the charming town of San Sebastian del Oeste. The rooms have all the modern touches, but the common area decor reflects the history of Mexico. There's a lovely dining/bar area with views of the forest canopy. Our room was very beautifully decorated with a fireplace to ease the chill of evening and morning. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rain shower nice and warm. The town is very close by. Best reached by car we decided as the cobble stone road is steep and narrow. We enjoyed our stay very much and would happily return.

What a gem! Loaded with history and beautiful views. We stayed in the Hacienda for a gals weekend. Decided to drive there from Bucerias. We had dinner up the road at Mi General steakhouse which was very good. The hacienda was clean and well maintained with a sitting and dining area overlooking the hills. Alejando was a most welcoming host and looked after us very well. At dinner the previous night we booked an ATV tour through the Mi General restaurant which turned into the highlight of the day! Best ATV ride ever. 45 minutes each way up to La Buff..what a view and need either an ATV or 4 wheel drive to get up there. I highly recommend the trip if you are adventurous. Fabulous weekend all round
